Native Plants in Seoraksan Native Plant Botanical Garden

Horsetails

The name of Sokcho originated from this plant. According to a book entitled “Comprehensive Bibliography of Place Names in Korea”, the old names of Sokcho were Horsetail Village and Horsetail Valley because there were a lot of horsetails in the area.

Styrax Forest

Styrax blooms pendulous pure white flowers. It serves as an indicator of any damage from pollution because it has strong resistance against cold weather and pollution.

Yellow Poplar Forest

A stream under the yellow poplar forest is a great place for young children to observe aquatic insects and plants and learn about the ecology.

At Seoraksan Native Plant Botanical Garden, you can enjoy the view of Seoraksan Mountain while taking a walk around its aquatic botanical garden, rock garden, maze garden, and greenhouse garden.

Cheoksan Foot Spa Garden

We recommend Seorak Nuri-gil Trail from the botanical garden to Cheoksan Foot Spa Garden, where you can enjoy a foot bath and rest up. That is what we call “a formula for healing.”
